The **Single-Use Plastics Directive (EU) 2019/904** restricts single-use plastic items and requires marking on cups that contain plastic. The **Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR)** applies from **12 August 2026**, with recyclability requirements for all packaging and a restriction on PFAS in food-contact packaging. Buyers need fiber-based alternatives that perform in service and come with the right documents. ## Bagasse packaging for Europe **Bagasse packaging** and **bagasse containers with lids** are the most direct replacement for plastic and polystyrene food containers: clamshells, plates, bowls, compartment trays and the Anti-Leak series for wet dishes.
