Austria combines a strong coffee-house and bakery culture with one of Europe’s busiest tourism seasons, from city cafés in Vienna and Graz to ski huts and summer events in the Alps. The EU Single-Use Plastics Directive is transposed in the Waste Management Act (AWG 2002) and the Packaging Ordinance 2014: certain single-use plastic items are banned, beverage cups that contain plastic carry the EU marking, and packaging placed on the market is licensed with a collection and recovery system. The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) applies from 12 August 2026.
Hot paper cups with lids, and without
Hot paper cups with lids remain the core of coffee to go; with water-based, PFAS-free, PE-free barrier options the cup body carries far less plastic. The lid-free paper cup closes with its own folded rim and removes the separate plastic lid altogether.
Bagasse and kraft food packaging

How do you ship to Austria?
Orders ship from İzmir, Türkiye, by road freight, or by sea for full containers with onward transport. As an EU member, Austria trades with Türkiye under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union, so industrial goods move with an A.TR movement certificate. Trade terms (for example EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP) are agreed per shipment and stated in the quote.
Which Austrian rules apply to single-use cups and food containers?
Austria transposed the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive in the Waste Management Act (AWG 2002) and the Packaging Ordinance 2014. The AWG bans certain single-use plastic items, such as plastic cutlery, plates and straws and expanded-polystyrene food containers and cups, and requires the EU marking on beverage cups that contain plastic. Packaging placed on the Austrian market must be licensed with a collection and recovery system. The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) applies from 12 August 2026.
