Paper cups and food packaging for Swiss foodservice
Switzerland is a high-value market for coffee to go, takeaway lunch and events, with buyers who expect consistent quality and clear documentation. As a non-EU country it sets its own rules: there is no national ban on single-use plastics, food-contact materials follow Swiss food law, and cities such as Geneva and Basel-Stadt set their own requirements for food and drinks sold on public ground. Many Swiss distributors still work to EU specifications so one product range serves both markets.
No import duty on packaging since 2024
Since 1 January 2024 Switzerland has abolished import duties on industrial products, regardless of origin. Paper and bagasse packaging enters duty-free; only the customs declaration and Swiss import VAT remain.
Hot paper cups with lids, and without
Hot paper cups with lids remain the core of coffee to go; with water-based, PFAS-free, PE-free barrier options the cup body carries far less plastic. The lid-free paper cup closes with its own folded rim and removes the separate plastic lid altogether.
Bagasse and kraft food packaging
Bagasse containers, clamshells, bowls and compartment trays, kraft bowls with lids, takeaway boxes and wooden cutlery. Ekoroll bagasse is home compostable and 100% bagasse (TÜV AUSTRIA OK compost HOME). The certificate is held by the producing mill; a copy is available on request.
Shipping to Switzerland
Orders ship from İzmir by road in transit through the EU. The lead time depends on the type of order: stock items, custom print, a mold or format change and private-label programs are each scheduled differently, and the lead time is confirmed in writing in your quote.

Frequently asked questions
How do you ship to Switzerland?
Orders ship from İzmir, Türkiye, by road freight, in transit through the EU, or by sea for full containers with onward transport. Trade terms (for example EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP) are agreed per shipment and stated in the quote.
Are there import duties on packaging in Switzerland?
Since 1 January 2024 Switzerland charges no import duty on industrial products (tariff chapters 25 to 97), whatever their origin, which covers paper and bagasse packaging. A customs declaration and Swiss import VAT still apply. A proof of origin is only needed when goods are re-exported unchanged or origin cumulation is used.
Which rules apply to single-use packaging in Switzerland?
Switzerland is not an EU member, so the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive and the PPWR do not apply directly, and there is no national ban on single-use plastics. Food-contact materials fall under Swiss food law (the Ordinance on Materials and Articles). Some cities and cantons set their own rules for events and stalls on public ground: Geneva has banned single-use plastic items such as cups, cutlery and straws there since 2020, and Basel-Stadt requires reusable tableware for food and drinks sold on public ground. Many Swiss buyers also follow EU requirements to keep one specification across markets.
What is the lead time?
It depends on the type of order: stock items, custom print, a mold or format change and private-label programs are each scheduled differently. The lead time is confirmed in writing in your quote.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimums depend on the product, size, print and shipment plan and are stated in the quote. Share the product, your approximate volume and the delivery country and we will propose a program.
Which documents do you provide?
Food-contact and performance documents are provided per format, according to the final product specification and production route. Tell us what your market or customer requires. Ekoroll bagasse is certified TÜV AUSTRIA OK compost HOME; a copy is available on request.
